A remarkable French Provincial walnut armoire standing over nine feet tall, with a sweeping arched cornice, shaped and molded door panels, decorative escutcheons, full-length iron hinges, cabriole legs, and a lower drawer. Its warm, timeworn walnut surface and commanding scale make it a beautiful example of provincial craftsmanship. The doors are operated by an unusually large skeleton key, approximately six inches long. The antique locking mechanism has been professionally restored and is fully functional—a wonderful detail to experience in person.

A written appraisal dated 1999, complete with a photograph of this piece, identifies it as late 18th to early 19th century, Louis XV in style, and most likely from the Burgundy region of France. The appraisal describes its walnut construction and original pewter hardware. A copy will accompany the armoire. Interior shelves and the lower drawer are included. As expected of a piece of this age, it shows wear, variations in the finish, and evidence of its long history.

Condition: Good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. The wood shows scattered scratches, scuffs, small nicks, finish wear, and age-related marks throughout, contributing to the armoire’s rich, timeworn patina.

Dimensions: 73"W x 24"D x 112"H
