Antique European Painted Country Cupboard

This exceptional antique country hutch cupboard is a true statement piece, blending old-world folk artistry with impressive craftsmanship and presence. Built in solid teak with a richly layered, timeworn painted finish, it showcases a beautifully composed façade—hand-painted rooster panels across the lower doors and matching pastoral scenes on the upper cabinet—each framed like artwork within the architecture of the piece. The upper portion features a charming combination of painted panels and wire-mesh door fronts, giving it that classic farmhouse utility feel while still reading as refined and collected. Below, the base offers generous storage with multiple cabinet sections and drawers, finished with distinctive forged-style hardware and iron escutcheons that reinforce its authentic, heirloom character. Designed as two separate pieces (top and bottom), it also includes two original keys. On the back, there are old carved/inscribed markings—details often seen on early cabinetry as workshop, maker, or assembly marks—adding another layer of authenticity and history to an already remarkable piece.

Condition: Presents beautifully and remains structurally sound, with wear consistent with age and authentic use. There is chipped wood at the top right corner and areas of chipped paint along the left side, including two more noticeable gaps that reveal the underlying wood. The original locking hardware is present; however, the key does not insert into the top middle lock, and while the key inserts into the top right lock, it does not currently turn. These elements are consistent with the age of the piece and contribute to its genuine antique character.
