Dating to the 19th century, this French Empire chest features a richly finished wood case topped with a dramatic gray and white veined marble slab. Three wide drawers are accented with ornate gilt-brass lion head ring pulls and decorative escutcheons, while small star motifs embellish the upper corners. The chest is elevated by substantial metal hairy lion paw feet at the front, adding to its distinctive Empire character. Classical detailing, warm wood tones, aged brass hardware, and the beautifully figured marble top give this antique chest an impressive architectural presence.

Condition: Good antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. The wood surfaces show scattered scratches, scuffs, finish variation, small nicks, and areas of wear throughout, with additional age-related wear visible to the back and drawer interiors. The brass hardware and metal lion paw feet display oxidation, patina, and finish wear. The marble top shows surface wear, edge wear, small chips and losses, and visible veining and fissures, including a prominent line across the top.
